What's new

The project is alive and is constantly being improved: we are adding models, firmware instructions and improve application installation. Here is a short summary of the latest changes. More detailed news and announcements - in our Telegram channel.

September 2, 2026
  • Jetour T2 on firmware 0.0.6 and 0.0.8: ADB can be enabled without reflashing On these versions Jetour removed the “Device” button from the engineering menu, and until today we sent owners to roll the firmware back - 3.6 GB, with a warning that a power cut can damage the head unit. Now the T2 page describes a backup method: ADB is enabled through the Encryption section, using a password calculated from the device ID. The same method has long been published for the Jaecoo J7 - these cars use head units of the same platform. Rolling the firmware back is still available, but it is no longer the first option, it is the last one.
  • Backup installer: for when the firmware refuses to install apps On some cars the head unit refuses the installation itself - the usual method does not go through. Until now that was the end of it. Now installation works as a ladder: if the usual method is rejected, the site quietly tries our own installer, and only if that fails too does it report what happened. Nothing to press, and on cars where the usual method works the backup one never kicks in.

Honestly about testing: the installer itself has been run on a live locked car - the owner of such a Jetour T2 ran it and sent us the result. But nobody has run it through the site yet, with the button: we published this today and are still checking. If your installation behaved oddly - contact support, we will look at the log.
  • What the Jaecoo J7 page asks before installation There used to be a checkbox saying “I checked the firmware version - it meets the requirements”, and next to it a claim that installation is impossible on versions newer than 02.00.05. That is out of date: what matters is not the version number but whether debugging is enabled. Now the page asks exactly that, and it offers two ways to enable it - the “DEVICE” button, or the Encryption section if that button is missing.

  • Update GarageSplit and assistant: placed on top New versions are installed on top of the old ones - there is no need to remove or reinstall anything, and it is better not to do this: after removal, the license will have to be activated again, and the pair will have to be selected from scratch. Shortcuts made before the update do not need to be recreated. At our stand, when updating over the top, the license, the selected pair and the issued rights remained in place; We have not yet tested this on a live machine.
  • The installer stopped responding “Permissions are configured” to everything Previously, after granting rights, the same line was printed in the console - no matter what the commands responded. Now we can see what actually happened: where the rights were issued and verified, where some did not pass, and where we still have nothing to check them with. The latter is not uncommon, but most sets are: we have no way to check for them, and now it is written directly, rather than hidden behind a general “configured”.
  • GarageSplit: Slots for App Pairs Previously, the couple was alone. Now you can collect several of them - up to three: you select a pair in the application and save it to the slot. Slots are opened by a long press on the floating button, a short press still splits the screen. The shortcut on the desktop is now addressed by a slot: you change the pair in it from the application, and the shortcut no longer overwrites what you selected with your hands.
  • GarageSplit: if an application from a pair is not on the machine Previously, a third-party application, the first one from the list, silently appeared in the selection line, and the person saw a pair that he did not select. And the division itself reached half: one window opened in full screen, and it looked like a success. Both parts have been corrected: now you can see which application was not found, and the division is not performed and tells you why.
  • GarageSplit: its own exit button on the “License” and “Diagnostics” screens There was not a single return button on these screens, and on some of the machines there was no system “Back” - you could only go to the main screen of the machine. Added a back button to both screens.
  • GarageSplit: what happens if the permission to show windows on top of applications is lost The floating button needs this permission, and sometimes it disappears on its own - after a system update or memory cleaner. Previously, the button remained inactive, and a long press on it went to the application below it. We made it so that in this case the button was removed, and a line appeared in the application about what happened and how to return the permission; when the permission is returned, the application puts the button back - not immediately: it checks the permission approximately once every half a minute. You can share the screen from the application itself without this permission.
  • Garage Tool Helper: Diagnostics screen can now be exited Previously, re-entering returned to the same screen, and this could only be resolved by rebooting the head unit. Added an output.
  • About verification - honestly Both assemblies were assembled and measured on the Android 11 emulator. They have not yet been tested on a live machine: we rarely do this and talk about it directly. If something behaves differently, write to support, we’ll sort it out.

  • GarageSplit: to clarify, an already open application is not divided into a window This morning I wrote here that this has been fixed in version 3.1. I tried it on in the evening and I see that I was in a hurry: I checked on a phone with Android 15, but in cars the systems are noticeably older and they behave differently.

At the stand with Android 11, the picture is this: if the application is already open and you click “Split”, it remains on the entire screen, and does not go halfway. Versions 2.5 and 3.1 behave the same way - there is no difference between them. It's not a matter of a specific application; it can be reproduced on another one too.

The application cannot move someone else's already running window to half the screen: this requires rights that are issued only by the car system manufacturer. Therefore, the workaround comes from the other side: you need to make sure that the application is no longer considered running.

The most reliable way is to reboot the head unit: after the reboot there are no running tasks, and the division goes away. On the Jetour T2, where I tested it on a live machine, there will be no other options: there is simply no list of recent ones in the interface of this machine.

If you have a list of recent ones in your car, you can do it faster: close the application from there and press “Split” again. And two applications that are not yet open are divided normally and without any workarounds; this has also been tested on a live machine.

It's still worth upgrading to 3.1, but not for the sake of it. It has removed scaling, which caused some owners to see the interface of the machine move apart, and it itself returns the normal screen density to those whose machine has already moved out.
  • Interface scaling has been removed from GarageSplit The “Element Size” slider and the “Only while dividing” switch have been removed from the application. The reason: for some owners, the interface of the machine itself was moving away from them - the font became smaller, factory elements were displaced, and it did not always come back. The exchange is fair: without scaling in half the screen, some applications again hide the buttons, which is why the scaling was done. We will return it after processing. If your screen density has already gone down, install the update from the website: the application will return the standard density itself, you don’t need to do anything.
  • GarageRemote: buttons on the steering wheel scroll through Yandex Music New free application. Standard buttons on the steering wheel switch the next and previous tracks in Yandex Music without taking your hands off the steering wheel. Works only with Yandex Music and only when music is playing; Pause and volume are not touched. The operation of the steering wheel buttons has been tested on Jetour T2 with Android 11. Installed through the Garage Tool installer. Open GarageRemote →

  • The navigator immediately determines the location On some head units, Yandex Navigator and the radar detector could not determine the coordinates after installation - they were not given permission for geolocation. Now the tool issues them automatically right during installation. If you installed Navigator before, reinstall it from the site so that permissions are issued.
  • RuStore: the “Install” button is pressed again On new versions of Android (for example, on Jaecoo J7), the installation button in RuStore and the file manager did not work due to system protection against screen overlap. The tool now releases this lock automatically.
