1. What Garage Tool is
Garage Tool - is a web-based tool that allows the car owner to independently install third-party Android-applications (for example Yandex Navigator, Yandex Music, VK Video, RuStore, RuTube and similar) to the head unit (multimedia system) of your car.
Installation takes place via USB-connecting the head unit to the computer and standard debugging protocol Android - ADB (Android Debug Bridge), built into the operating system itself Android. The entire process is performed directly in the user's browser on their own computer; no data other than installed applications is transmitted to the head unit.
Important: the service does not perform flashing, does not receive root-access and does not make changes to the system software of the head unit. Use the standard one provided by yourself Android The debugging mechanism is the same as that used by service centers.
2. Who acts and who is responsible
All actions to connect the head unit, select applications and start the installation are performed by the user himself - at his own decision and voluntarily. Garage Tool provides a tool, but does not connect to the head unit on its own and does not install anything without direct user action (pressing the corresponding button).
By using the site, the user confirms that:
- understands that he is installing third-party software on his own equipment;
- acts voluntarily and consciously, at his own peril and risk;
- bears personal responsibility for the consequences of his actions.
3. The tool does not guarantee results
Garage Tool provides a tool for installing applications yourself, but does not guarantee a specific result - it depends on the model, firmware version of the head unit and the applications themselves.
Use of the tool does not imply or guarantee that:
- installation of this or that application on a specific model of the head unit will definitely be successful;
- installed third-party applications will work without errors, be updated and remain compatible with the head unit firmware in the future (see the section "Third-party applications and trademarks" - this is the responsibility of their own developers, not Garage Tool).
4. Service provided "as is"
Garage Tool provided on an “as is” basis (as is), without any warranties - express or implied. We do not guarantee that:
- installation of a specific application on a specific model of the head unit will be successful;
- the site and all its functions will be available at any time, without interruptions or errors;
- installed applications will work stably, be updated and remain compatible with the head unit firmware in the future.
5. Limitation of liability
Site operator Garage Tool is not responsible for:
- damage, breakdown, incorrect operation or loss of functionality of the head unit as a result of using the site;
- loss of data, settings or files on the head unit;
- refusal of warranty service by the manufacturer or official dealer if the reason was the installation of third-party software (we recommend checking the terms of the warranty with your dealer before using the site);
- any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising in connection with the use of the site or applications installed through it.
These limitations do not apply in cases where the law expressly prohibits such limitations of liability.
6. Third-party apps and trademarks
Applications that can be installed via Garage Tool (Yandex Navigator, Yandex Music, VK Video, RuStore, RuTube and others) are developed and distributed by third parties. Garage Tool is not their developer, copyright holder or official distributor.
The operation, content, updates, requested permissions, and compliance of applications with their own terms of use are solely the responsibility of their developers. All trademarks, names and logos mentioned belong to their respective owners and are used on the site for informational purposes only - to show which applications can be installed. The use of these names does not imply any partnership, sponsorship or endorsement by their respective owners.
7. Advanced mode - installing your own APK files
An “advanced mode” is available on the page of each model, allowing you to download and install your own APK-file instead of or in addition to the recommended set. This feature is intended for advanced users and is used entirely at the user's discretion and responsibility.
Please note: the built-in memory of head units is usually very limited, and Google services (Google Play Services) are usually not available on them. Installing heavy applications or applications that require Google services may not work or may adversely affect the operation of the head unit. We recommend installing only applications from trusted sources.
8. Garage Tool Helper on the head unit
The set of applications includes “Garage Tool Helper” - our own application that can grant permissions to other installed applications directly in the car, without connecting a computer. This is necessary because permissions on head units are issued only at the time of installation: if it later turns out that some application does not have enough rights, without such an assistant, you would have to take the laptop to the car again.
For this to work, the assistant is installed in device owner mode. The user explicitly agrees to this: the tool displays a separate warning before starting the installation, and the installation does not begin without confirmation.
What does this mean in practice:
- in the settings of the head unit a mark will appear indicating that the device is managed by the organization;
- You can cancel this mode in the assistant itself, using the “Cancel owner mode” button; if cancellation using the application fails, the mode is removed by resetting the multimedia system to factory settings;
- on some head units, the control application mode may not be installed - in this case, the assistant will continue to work in a limited form and honestly report this on its screen;
- The assistant does not drive the car, change its settings or collect personal data - its actions are limited to granting permissions to installed applications and system switches listed in its log.
If the assistant is not needed, just uncheck the box next to it in the list of applications before installation - the remaining applications will be installed as usual.
9. Legal compliance
It is the user's responsibility to ensure that the applications he chooses to install and their use in his vehicle comply with the laws of the country in which he resides and drives the vehicle, including regulations regarding the use of electronic devices while driving, copyright and software licensing.
10. Voluntary financial support
Garage Tool can be supported by a voluntary monetary donation (for example, using the QR code on the page "Support the project"). This support:
- is completely voluntary and free of charge - this is a donation, not payment for goods, work or services;
- does not create a contractual relationship between the user and the site operator, is not a subscription and does not give rise to counter-obligations;
- does not give the donor additional rights, guarantees, priority support, influence on the project or other advantages;
- does not affect the availability of the site: all Garage Tool functions remain available regardless of whether the user made a donation or not;
- by its nature (a gratuitous gift) cannot be returned.
Funds are used to develop the project and maintain the functionality of the site. The user makes the decision about support and its amount independently.
11. Technical data and abuse prevention
For the functionality of the service, analytics and protection from unfair and commercial use (in particular, during the free period), the site collects and stores technical data: information about the browser and computer from which the installation is performed, an impersonal identifier of the connected head unit, IP address and an activity log (which applications were installed and with what result). This data is used solely for the operation, analytics and protection of the service, and is not transferred to third parties, except as required by law. The site also uses the Yandex.Metrica web analytics service.
12. Changes to this document
This document may be updated as the service develops. The current version is always available via the same link on the website. The date of last update is indicated at the beginning of the document.
